A hot wind howls through the mangrove and with it comes ash and dirt. We are anchored in an estuary in Corinto, Nicaragua. Each morning Dois rinses the decks down with salt water or we would be walking in mud. Ae are safe and secure and the people in Nicaragua are really good to us. They just like to burn the fields this time of year. We are leaving Nicaragua tomorrow morning looking for fresher air in Mexiico.
This is a "street horse". Just like street dogs, they wander the streets looking for hand-outs and nibbling on grass and weeds. We saw one street horse that decided decide to go over a large bridge with trucks and cars coming up behind and alongside him. He galloped all the way across
Black Skimmers. These birds use that lower beak to skim along the water and scoop fish up. They are the only bird that has a longer lower beak and it doesn't move, it's fixed to the head. There were a lot of Caspian Terns and gulls as well. I kayaked out to a tidal mudflat where they mostly posed for me. One morning we watched a large anteater waddle across the mud looking for... ants?
I believe we have located the real Super-chicken. See below.
No birds were altered in the making of this photo:
Peace.
