Everything about Tahiti is about the water and fish. Just feet from the airport runway there are reefs with neon colored butterfly fish and the heavily congested streets are bordered by canals that are chock full of large mullet and eel fish. Each street and most buildings have an amazing ocean views of breath taking reefs and mystical Mo'rea just 5 miles away. Every bit of water holds a surprise; yellow fish with red fins at the boat launch. Dinner plate sized neon blue angel fish with yellow accents. Murals around the city depicting what we can see just yards away. We trekked the streets of the city yesterday trying to gather the necessary items we will need as we move on to another long voyage. We have a mechanic coming this morning to talk about rebuilding our transmission after sucking in the Pacific Ocean during our crossing. (update: he says Dois was smart in his applications of flushing with diesel, oil and atf and the transmission shows no signs of damage. At least for now...) We have decided to sail first to Samoa, about 1300 miles away with a final destination of the Marshall Islands for hurricane season. We plan to stop at Surarrow in the northern Cook Island group, about half way to American Samoa. pEacE
